The Governor

A big fan of The Walking Dead on AMC. Can't wait for the Governor to show up in the next season, its going to be gruesome!
Here's my concept design on what the Gov should look like in full zombie hunting armor!

I'm drawing from lots of villain traditions including Darth Vader, Blackbeard, Captain Ahab, Vlad the Impaler, etc. I see him as ex-military with his national-guard stormtroopers. Whatever AMC does should be exciting and frightening.

Spectrum Entry

Hi Everyone!!
Its been a long time since I posted anything new but I was hoping for some in put. I've never entered anything into spectrum before, but I thought this year I would take my chances.

This image (untitled) is what I'm considering submitting. I can't really afford to send in a lot of samples. Let me know if you have any suggestions for last minute changes and a title!!

Thanks.

Eowyn and the Nazgul

I'm working on the ArtOrder challenge of Eowyn and the Nazgul. I hope to be able to make the deadline. This is the image as it is now as a work in progress. Any input would be appreciated....

Eowyn and the Nazgul #1-Nazgul

I haven't posted in a really long time I see. My new job is keeping me busy and not much time for illustrating unfortunately. I was really struck by the ArtOrder's new challenge to re-interpret the scene of Eowyn vs. the Nazgul. I couldn't resist and I've been carving out some time to work on the idea.

This is my first pass at concepting the Nazgul. It looks a bit like Frazetta's "Death Dealer" but I'm happy with the direction. I like the idea of a phantasm, just an empty animated cloak. Hopefully I'll get something more done in time for the judging.

Good luck to everyone out there, and please share my post with your friends. Any feedback is good feedback.

THanks.

Owlbear Re-Concept

Inspired by the web-blog of Jon Schindehette, I develped my own concept designs to re-interpret the Dungeons and Dragons classic beast, the Owlbear.
The previous interpretations of the Owlbear have always been a bit silly and I'm excited to see that Wizards of the Coast is actively looking to re-invent this classic monster from the Monster Manual.
My understanding of the Owlbear from the literature has been that it was a freak wizardry accident that had escaped into the wild. The new interpretation appears to be that it is a Fey creature. Either way, its got great potential as a nasty animal, that anyone would be terrified to bump into in a dark corridor.

Working from the description, the Owlbear is a natural creature from the Feywild. I tried to make the creature appear as natural as possible, and not a freak aberation or alien from another world! While at the same time trying to stay true to the previous artwork. I imagine the Owlbear being able to fly, even if only a little. It possesses amazing night vision and hearing of the owl, and ferocious power of a bear. I conceive of several possible variants and breeds including Dire Owlbears, Worg Owlbears, etc.

I hope you enjoy and want to hear your feedback!

Thanks.
